The Sweetest Ride in Town

The best time to ride is Tuesday to Sunday between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

The Thornbury Sticky Bun Loop

Discover Thornbury’s most delicious highlights on two wheels with the Sticky Bun Loop – a self-guided cycling adventure that blends local flavour with small-town charm. Whether you’re cycling for the snacks, the scenery, or that legendary sticky bun, this ride is a sweet way to explore the Apple Pie Trail – one delicious stop at a time.

Note: there are hills on this route – not for novices!

The Route

Start: The Heart of Thornbury

Fuel up at the Thornbury Bakery Café in the heart of town with a signature sticky bun. Once you’ve had your fill, hop on your bike and head south on Bruce Street. As you leave the downtown core, the road changes its name to Marsh Street, leading you straight down into the village of Clarksburg.

A Quick Refreshment

Need a quick break already? No problem! Stop in at The Market on Marsh and grab a locally sourced snack before continuing your journey.

Into Apple Country

Head south and then turn right (west) onto Clark Street, which becomes the 40th Sideroad. You are now in the heart of Apple Country! Enjoy the rolling orchard views as you turn right (north) onto the Blue Mountains–Meaford Townline, and then another right (east) onto Sideroad 33.

The Pit-Stop

Heading back toward Thornbury, turn left (northwest) onto Alfred Street West, which brings you to Grey Road 113. At the southwest corner of Grey Road 113 and Highway 26, you’ll find Goldsmith’s Orchard Market and Bakery. This is a great pit-stop for fresh-picked produce and local treats!

The Scenic Return

Carefully cross Highway 26 north to find the Georgian Trail and turn right (east). Take the Georgian Trail all the way back to Bruce Street. Turn right (south) and you are right back in the centre of Thornbury.

The Finish Line

Cycle your way back into the village and visit The Cheese Gallery, a gourmet cheese shop and gallery that celebrates local flavours, fine cheeses, and artisanal products. Finally, wind down your day with a well-earned dinner at Bruce Wine Bar, where local ingredients and carefully curated wines come together in an intimate setting.

🚴 Pro Tip: The “Reverse” Challenge

Looking for more of a challenge? We suggest you reverse the trip and enjoy the hill at ‘Frogs Hollow’. It’s a heart-pumping climb that serves as a rite of passage for local riders. If you know, you know!

No bike? No problem! Rent an e-bike from Georgian Trail e-Bikes. Rentals include a helmet and a bike lock, so you have no excuses!
